But his path to integrative medicine didn’t begin in textbooks — it began in frustration. After years of practicing conventional medicine and seeing patients return again and again with unresolved symptoms, Dr. Kim began to question the system he had been trained in. He witnessed how quick-fix prescriptions often led to deeper imbalances or new side effects. He felt the burnout of rushing through appointments without truly helping. In 2016, he stepped off the standard path — and began a new one.
